what is VDSL? |
VDSL
(Very High Bit Rate Digital Subscriber Line)
is a new and exciting technology that allows
video, Internet and telephone service to operate
simultaneously over the existing copper telephone
wire coming into your office and home today.
VDSL is extremely fast asymmetric DSL technology,
providing data and POTS service on a single
twisted pair. VDSL is reserved for users in
close proximity to a central office, and the
closer the better: within 5,000 feet you can
reach downstream speeds of 13 Mbps and at
1,000 feet download speeds of up to 52 Mbps
can be achieved.
VDSL has not been standardized and some chip
vendors have demonstrated 52 Mbps symmetric
in short loops. |

What is Ethernet Over VDSL Converter? |
| Ethernet
is proven for businesses usage and well supported
in operating systems and applications. Its
adapter and switch/hub are at low cost. However,
it requires new wiring of CAT 5 UTP or fiber-optic
cables. Besides, if use CAT 5 cable, its maximum
cable distance is only 100meters. With Ethernet
over VDSL technology, users can utilize the
telephone line to transfer Ethernet packets
and extend the distance up to 1.5 km. |

What is the difference
between asymmetrical and symmetrical modes?

In
Symmetrical mode, data travels upstream (to
the Internet or data source) and downstream
(from the internet or data source) at the
same rate. Symmetrical DSL was designed for
applications requiring high speeds in both
directions, which is ideally suited for business
applications. Increasingly, symmetrical applications,
which began with enterprise networks, are
now also required by both small and medium
enterprises and residential customers.
Leading the list of symmetrical applications
are video conferencing, interactive videos,
and telecommuting. |

What is different Ethernet Over VDSL Converter? |

| The
Converter is a switch architecture with four
RJ-45 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet Switch ports
and one 10Mbps RJ-11 symmetric Ethernet over
VDSL port, the Ethernet Over VDSL combines
the well proven Ethernet and VDSL technology
to transmit the Ethernet format data By using
VDSL signaling over the ordinary telephone
wires and not impact to the current voice
service. |

are the different PCMCIA card types?

The
PC Card Standard provides physical specifications
for three types of PC Cards, with additional
provisions for extended cards. All three card
types measure the same length and width and
use the same 68-pin connector.
Because they differ only in thickness, a thinner
card can be used in a thicker slot, but a
thicker card can not be used in a thinner
slot. |

What is the difference
between 16-BIT and 32 BIT version? |

| The
32-Bit version of PC Card. It is called ˇ§CardBusˇ¨
and allows speeds up to 133 Mbps at 33MHz.
Another 16-Bit version of PC Card. When we
say ˇ§PC Cardˇ¨, it means the 16-Bit PC Card.
The speed of PC Card is slower than CardBus.
As a comparison, 32-bit CardBus is able to
take advantage of internal bus speeds that
can be as much as 4~6 times faster than 16-bit
PC Card. CardBus sockets are able to accept
and supports all 16-Bit PC Card but 16-Bit
PC Card sockets only accept 16-Bit PC Card.
